A national report of occupational licensure recently found that Utah has the 13th most burdensome occupational licensure laws. We have invited Utahns to rethink occupational licensure laws.
Representative Cory Maloy is sponsoring House Bill 173 to decrease regulatory barriers for workers in Utah by making it easier for competent professionals to get the permission slip required of them by the state.
Under the bill, a person who was licensed in another state and has at least one year of experience, who can also demonstrate competency in their occupation, can be eligible to obtain a license in Utah—and thus avoid having to attend school and take an exam.
