education

This is a time of year that is filled with hope for many children. Unfortunately, it can be a time of dread for others. But it doesn’t have to be. Parents have many other options.
Imagine living in Maine which allows families to use government money to choose a school. You’re excited because you and your spouse want to send your children to the school where you both attended. But when you apply for the funding, you find out that every school in town is available, except for the one you selected. Why is it excluded? Because it is a religious school.
These bills represent steps Libertas is taking in the realms of technological innovation, privacy, education, occupational licensing, local government, and criminal justice.
Many education funds come with restrictions on how they can or cannot be spent. The programs mean well, but the money comes with heavy bureaucratic rules. They limit schools’ and teachers' creativity and inhibit innovation.
The bill continues to emphasize special needs students and that will always be a priority, but families no longer have to choose between sibling support and educational opportunities for their children.
These bills create an educational environment that is more friendly to innovation by the people who are closest to the programs and students affected by regulatory restrictions.
