In the world of occupational licensing, turf wars can seem like a never-ending battle between established professionals and emerging players. The consequences of these battles can be far-reaching, impacting individuals seeking to enter the workforce and the overall economy.
Nationwide, teacher shortages are rampant. It is time for our state and others to embrace this change and work together to build a more robust and dynamic teaching workforce.
With states already adopting laws to allow psychologists to prescribe medication and Utah’s elected officials lessening scope of practice laws, it only makes sense for this law to come to fruition.
By deregulating occupational licensing and telehealth, states can increase the supply of mental healthcare providers and reduce costs, while also increasing the availability of care for patients in areas with provider shortages.
Utah must pass increasing amounts of legislation supporting veterans through the reduction of occupational licensing barriers.
