This bill requires the Department of Corrections to help inmates obtain copies of their birth certificate, social security card, and either a driver license or identification card before they are released.
Currently, someone can only be found incompetent if they have an underlying mental illness or intellectual disability. If passed, the bill would also allow someone to be found incompetent based on a brain injury.
