Public schools have different needs and requirements than private and homeschool students. That is why it is important to separate the management of statewide online education program into two separate programs.

Senate Bill 137 from Senator Kirk Cullimore does just that.

Public school courses must align with state standards and follow state and federal laws. So it doesn’t make sense to force online courses for private and homeschooled students to align to those requirements.

Separating them into two programs will allow the public schools to get the courses they need, while private and homeschooled students can take the courses they need.

It is a win-win.
