Holding a raccoon or allowing a swine to run at large can land you in jail in Utah… but with new legislation on the way, hopefully for not much longer.
Utah law gives police immunity from being sued if they negligently injure a suspect being pursued in a high speed chase—even in cases where they may not have followed the law.
Being presumed innocent sounds great in theory, but in practice, people are held in jail for weeks or months before trial if they're unable to pay the government money.
The government continues to seize and take ownership of property from innocent people. This year's data shines light on the practice in Utah.
