Window tint violations in Utah are minor and unrelated to safety, yet they can still lead to traffic stops and license suspensions. Harsh penalties for such infractions are unnecessary and unjust.
House Bill 112, sponsored by Representative Karianne Lisonbee, prevents law enforcement from requesting license or registration suspensions for window tint violations, even if repeated.
Libertas supports this bill because it protects citizens from such excessive penalties and is a practical reform that favors individual rights. Revoking a person’s ability to drive over a minor issue is excessive and unwarranted.
