This bill expands existing grant programs for rural economic development.

Current protectionist policies allow government-owned liquor stores to sell beer above a certain alcohol limit, but not grocery and convenience stores. As of this April, Utah will be one of only two states that restrict grocery stores to selling 3.2% alcohol.
This bill lowers Utah's sentence length for a class A misdemeanor penalty by one day in order to prevent the deportation of legal immigrants.
Instead of starting the budgeting process with last year's budget and simply adding (and very rarely subtracting) to it, legislative committees should start fresh—from zero.
