Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall has unilaterally issued an executive order declaring an emergency due to Covid-19, and ordering all children in K-12 schools in the city to wear a face mask.
But does she have the authority to do so?
This entire situation does highlight the need for consumers to be aware of the risks they run with their data before deciding to entrust it to a third party as well as the need for robust guardrails for government agencies that want to access that data through the third party.
This legislation does not put customers in any danger, but it does create the ability for more individuals to become employed and avoid all of the challenges surrounding the lengthy licensing process.
