It’s official. As the New York Times recently reported, some US banks are denying their services to people whose banking activities trigger an algorithm, or whose political views they dislike. The bankers call breaking customers’ financial security and centuries of confidentiality precedent to aid government snoops “de-risking.”
Disinformation in the age of AI makes people more skeptical about the information they consume, and it’s becoming an urgent matter in the face of the upcoming presidential elections.
These types of innovations have the potential to help millions of people in the future as we get better at farming, especially in harsh conditions of the world where people struggle to survive.
There is a tendency to think of app-based gig work as an easy alternative to traditional employment. But as many anonymous gig workers have posted on Reddit, stories of misplaced liability, danger, and unsustainability abound.
We hope it better conveys the reasons we are so passionate about our Future of Work policy. The issues might not be simple, but solutions are necessary and will benefit so many who are working hard in the gig economy.
