By removing these barriers, Utah can continue to grow its thriving and diverse learning environment. Teachers and parents are now free to create the education that works best for their children. 
Senate Bill 44 from Senator Fillmore combines the Carson Smith and Special Needs Opportunity Scholarships into one program, eliminating the bureaucracy and thus making access to the program easier for families. 
This expansion is exciting, and we are looking forward to how the legislature further expands the scholarship in the future. 
Utah public schools receive $11,000 per student, $3,000 more than private schools. Funding sources include state, local, and federal contributions.
Schools need to take a deep look at their practices. There is something keeping students from attending school, and it isn’t a lack of punishment.
The education world has changed in the past few years. It is time that new models of learning are recognized and allowed into our communities.
