Utah’s government has generally strict licensing requirements, most requiring classroom and clinic hours as well as a comprehensive test. One problem with this system is that it does not adequately account for people who are already licensed in other states that are moving to Utah. 
Laws that prevent so-called ‘price gouging,’ contrary to conventional wisdom, do little to provide relief to consumers.
Do you unlock your phone with your finger or face? Many people do. However, should law enforcement be allowed to compel you to unlock your phone using these features?
What are regulatory sandboxes? They are unique legal classifications that create space for regulators to temporarily freeze regulations and criminal penalties for a defined time period. This allows private companies to develop or introduce an innovative product or service where current standards poorly apply or haven’t yet been created.
While Americans are not directly compensated for the data they provide to the companies they interact with, they have been the benefactors of cheaper goods and services at a higher quality—an indirect benefit that cannot be discounted. Regulating this industry is not the answer, as it will saddle companies with heavy compliance burdens while likely causing Americans to lose out on significant savings.
